FORMER Rangwe MP Shem Ochuodho has moved to court to stop the ongoing mass voter registration. Ochuodho, a resident of Juba, South Sudan, says the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has not included the registration of eligible citizens living in the Diaspora.
Ochudho, the National Vision Kenya, Mageuzi and Kenya Diaspora Alliance want the IEBC ordered to take measures for the registration of voters in the Diaspora. The commission started the registration on Monday. It will end on March 15.
The IEBC plans to carry out a similar drive early next year although registration will continue at the constituency level up to May next year, when the register will be closed for the general election. Ochuodho says failure of the commission to register eligible Kenyans living outside the country will discriminate them.
